The U.S. Consulate General invites applications for Fellowship from Master’s and Doctoral students in science and technology, who demonstrate Academic Excellence, exceptional results in their field, and a desire to use their talents to promote collective good. The fellowship, initiated by the Quad countries of Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), sponsors exceptional STEM Master’s and Doctoral students to study in the United States.

What is the Quad Fellowship?

This first-of-its-kind program, initiated by the Quad countries (Australia, India, Japan, and the United States), is designed to foster collaboration among the next generation of STEM leaders. It offers a unique opportunity for talented students from these countries to pursue their graduate studies in the United States.

Are You Eligible?

If you are a Master’s or Doctoral student demonstrating academic excellence, exceptional results in your STEM field, and a desire to contribute to the greater good, we encourage you to apply!

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
  • Be citizens or legal permanent residents of one of the Quad countries – Australia, India, Japan, or the United States – or any of the 10 ASEAN countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a STEM field by August 2024
  • Have a demonstrated record of superior academic achievement at the undergraduate level
  • Prospective Graduate students: Must have already applied to an eligible STEM graduate program at a US-based university to begin the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Current Graduate students at US universities: If applicants are currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in the US, they must be enrolled full-time in an eligible STEM graduate program for the full 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Clinical healthcare degree programs such as Doctorate of Medicine or Master of Nursing are ineligible.
