About:
Mid Sweden University, The Department of Electronics Design and The research centre STC announce a postdoctoral position in the project MiLo – Environment in the control loop. The research will be made in collaboration with industrial partners in a large project integrating the technology challenges of environmental monitoring in the application areas: Airports, Waste Deposits of Cellulose Fibres, Industries and Winter Sport Facilities.
Postdoctoral position
A postdoctoral position in an internationally active research group working in the area of radiation sensor systems. The research conducted by this group is internationally recognized and performed in collaboration with the Medipix consortium hosted by the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN. This will give you access to the latest equipment and unique facilities.
In addition, Mid Sweden University houses an X-ray lab equipped with a microfocus source and a state-of-the-art X-ray spectral imaging sensor as well as a cleanroom capable of processing tailored X-ray detectors.
The MiLo project includes the challenge of developing measurement and analysis techniques for heavy metals in a marine environment, as well as the development of XRF/CT imaging techniques for material composition studies.
This research work will focus on the development of detectors, systems and applications for X-ray spectroscopy and spectroscopic X-ray imaging. Supervision of PhD and master students connected to the research group will be included in your duties.
Eligibility
To qualify for the position of postdoc you must hold a PhD degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a PhD. Relevant subject areas for this position are electronics, electrical engineering or physics with a specialization in radiation-based measurements.
Skills in environmental measurements technology, X-ray spectroscopy or semiconductor processing are meriting. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application due date; however, for example, periods of sick leave or parental leave can be deducted from the three-year period.
