Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Research Fellowships|UoG

Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Research Fellowships: To support the growth of its global reputation for world-changing research, the University of Glasgow is investing in the recruitment of outstanding early career researchers to its Lord Kelvin Adam Smith (LKAS) Research Fellowships.

LKAS Fellowship Scheme was established in 2006 to enable the recruitment of outstanding researchers who are in the early stages of their careers and are on a trajectory to become leaders in their chosen field. The scheme offers Fellows the opportunity to establish or further develop an independent research career.

Fully Funded Research Fellowships

UoG is investing in up to three Fully Funded Fellowships, which provide salary and research costs to outstanding early career researchers, to be aligned with the priorities of five of Research Institutes:

  • Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine
  • Institute of Cancer Sciences
  • Institute of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences
  • Institute of Health & Wellbeing
  • Institute of Infection, Immunity & Inflammation

In particular, UoG is looking to recruit in the following broad thematic areas:
1. Public health and epidemiology (from aetiology to intervention), health services and primary care, including clinical trials and health policy research.
2. Any aspect of medical/biomedical research. Applications are anticipated from the full range of research related to medicine/biomedicine, from basic underpinning studies through experimental medicine to clinical trials.

Leadership Research Fellowships

UoG also offers generous funding incentives to researchers with a track record of excellence in any discipline who are applying for an externally funded Fellowship to conduct research at the University of Glasgow, or who would like to bring an existing externally-funded Fellowship to the University.

How to Apply:

Recruitment will be through an open call.

Applicants should approach the PI or Head of School in the first instance.

Applications must be made using the relevant Leadership Fellow application form (see below) and must be submitted by the relevant College Office, following discussions with the relevant College academics, no later than three weeks prior to the external deadline to allow time for review.

The applicant’s CV should be submitted with the Leadership Fellow application form.

Following confirmation of eligibility, formal approval to commit funding will be sought from the Vice-Principal (Research) and Senior Vice-Principal.
