Advancing Innovation: Indo-Russian Joint Research Proposals 2024 Unveiled
Research Areas:
The DST-RSF cooperation is focused on the following areas of research:
- New Materials
- Clean energy
- Smart healthcare and medicine
- Safe food
- Smart transport and telecommunications
- Plant and Animal Biotechnology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Earthquake and Ocean Science
Please note that proposals submitted in other research areas will not be considered for funding.
Project Grant Terms:
- Each selected project will receive annual funding of up to the equivalent of US $100,000 in their respective national currencies.
- The duration of each project will be three years.
- The project team should consist of a minimum of four members and a maximum of ten members, with at least 50% of the team comprising young scientists/faculty members below 45 years of age.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Indian Principal Investigators (PIs) should be scientists or faculty members working in a regular capacity at universities, academic institutes, or national research and development laboratories/institutes.
- It is essential that the Indian PI does not retire or leave the parent institute during the proposed duration of the project.
- The project coordinators on both sides should have published at least 10 research articles in SCI-indexed journals in the last five years.
- Additionally, researchers who are currently implementing any Indo-Russian joint project expected to end after 31st December 2024 are not eligible to submit proposals under this call.
Application Process:
- To submit a proposal, Indian researchers should visit the official DST website at www.onlinedst.gov.in.
- After registration, they can find the application format and relevant information in the International Cooperation (bilateral) section under the scheme and format category.
- The deadline for submitting proposals is 15th June 2024.
- It is crucial for the Indian and Russian team leaders to ensure that their counterpart submits an identical application on the prescribed format and guidelines of the nodal agencies by the due date.
Support and Funding:
- Each project will receive annual funding of up to Rs. 70,00,000 from DST and up to Rbls 70,00,000 from RSF.
- This funding will cover consumables, accessories, fellowships, and other research expenses. The respective country’s funding agency will bear expenditure by the project team in their respective countries.
- Exchange visits between the Indian and Russian teams will also be supported, including international airfare, accommodation, per diem, and medical insurance.
Assessment and Selection:
- All received proposals will undergo a peer review process and be referred to an independent advisory panel for consideration and ranking.
- DST and RSF will conduct parallel reviews based on agreed criteria. The final decision will be made jointly by DST and RSF based on the review results.
- It is worth noting that applications must receive a positive rating to be eligible for funding.
- The Joint Working Group of DST and RSF will make the final decisions, considering the rankings and recommendations.
