Eligibility Criteria: Are you eligible to embark on this transformative journey?
Here are the criteria:
- Open to Indian nationals.
- I am registered for a full-time Ph.D. degree in a recognized Indian institution/university.
- Disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, Pharma, Agriculture, and related S&T areas.
- Part-time and sponsored students, as well as those who have submitted their Ph.D. theses, are not eligible.
Application and Selection Process: Ready to apply?
Follow these steps:
- Apply to Overseas Institutions:
- Apply directly to universities with signed agreements/MoUs with SERB for student mobility.
- Notable universities include Purdue University, USA, and the University of Alberta, Canada.
- Selection Criteria:
- Selection is based on obtaining an offer letter from an overseas institution for research in areas of interest to India.
Fellowship and Components: Successful fellows will receive a monthly fellowship of US $2000, along with one-time Contingency/Preparatory allowances of Rs. 60,000. Additional components include:
- Travel and Per-diem:
- Round-trip economy class airfare and per-diem allowances for both Indian supervisors and overseas scientists.
- Accommodation:
- Accommodation allowances for both parties during the visit.
- Contingencies:
- Allowance of US $250 per visit for visa fees, travel/medical insurance, airport transfers, and other contingencies.
Other Guidelines: Ensure you adhere to these guidelines:
- The application can be submitted only during the call for applications.
- The research training duration is up to twelve months, extendable in exceptional circumstances.
- For employed researchers, the rules of the employing organization apply; SERB bears no liability.
- Fellows should not draw their regular Indian research fellowship during the OVDF.
- Supervisors’ exchange visits should align with the Ph.D. work tenure.
- The Indian institution must provide the necessary facilities and administrative support.
