EMBO- the European Molecular Biology Organization is encouraging Long-Term Fellowships, which are awarded for a period of up to 2 years.
It also supports post-doctoral research visits to laboratories throughout the world.
The key feature in the application process is International exchange.
They provide stipends depends on the country and subjected to taxation.

Applications and additional documentation are accepted via online only.
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent at the start of the fellowship.
- Applicants who already hold a PhD degree at the time of application are eligible to apply only if they obtained their PhD degree during the two years prior to the date the application is complete.
- All applications must involve movement between countries.
- Candidates can only submit one application for one project at one host laboratory at each round of selection.
- Applicants must have at least one first author publication accepted in or published in an international peer-reviewed journal at the time of application

Duration
of support
Fellowships may be awarded for a period of up to 24 months, sometimes it will
be awarded for shorter period too.
Stipend
The stipend rate depends on the country being visited and might be subject to taxation.
Additional Allowances:
Dependent child allowance- for the children under the age of 18.
Childcare allowance – for children under age of six, claim support for child-care costs up to €2.500 per year / per child.

Selection Criteria:
All eligible applications are then sent to the Fellowship Committee for pre-screening and twice the number of available fellowships is selected for an interview.
Applicants successfully passed the pre-screening, who is an expert in the area of the application, will be selected from among the EMBO Members and EMBO Young Investigators.
All applications are evaluated by the EMBO Fellowship Committee based on:
- Previous scientific achievements of the applicant.
- Novelty and biological significance of proposed research. Applications to continue exploring a topic similar to the PhD project, usually receive lower priority for funding.
- Appropriateness of the host laboratory for the proposed research and training of the applicant.
Typically the outcome of the selection is known between 14-16 weeks after the evaluation deadline.

Announcements will be provided on the EMBO website shortly after the committee meeting.
